The UFC Apex in Las Vegas hosted UFC on ESPN 49. ESPN and ESPN+ both broadcast and streamed the event.
Holly Holm (15-6 MMA, 8-6 UFC), the former women's bantamweight champion, was defeated by Mayra Bueno Silva (10-2-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC) in the main event. In the co-feature, rising welterweight sensation Jack Della Maddalena (14-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) overcame last-minute opponent Bassil Hafez (8-3-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) to earn his fifth straight victory.

Tucker Lutz vs. Melsik Baghdasaryan
Both men launch into a kick-heavy opening round plan. Lutz hits the body and legs while Baghdasaryan targets the body and head. Baghdasaryan is moving around the outside using his footwork while Lutz begins to work around the task. With three minutes remaining in the battle, Lutz successfully executes the first takedown, half pinning Baghdasaryan against the fence. The situation stagnates for several minutes without any progress or harm being done.

Round 2: Out of concern of the takedown, Baghdasaryan chooses his opening strikes methodically. He strikes Lutz in the body with a powerful body kick and a left uppercut, knocking him out. A blow to the groyne is delivered by Baghdasaryan, who then kicks Lutz in the head as the referee orders them to halt. As the action resumes, Lutz lands a powerful body kick. Lutz's head is snapped back by Baghdasaryan's strong right hand after he responds with a head kick that narrowly misses. He eventually succeeds in yanking the legs out.
In an attempt to threaten with a rear-naked choke, he takes the back, but Baghdasaryan maintains his composure and spins back up to his feet. He forces Lutz up against the fence and gives him a few clinch knees to the body, but Lutz quickly changes positions and resumes his takedown attempt. Time is rapidly ticking off the clock as he gives up and clinches Baghdasaryan against the fence. Baghdasaryan eventually manages to push himself free and executes three consecutive body kicks. In the last seconds, they exchange blows, and Baghdasaryan has the advantage to win.
