Singapore's DS-SAR satellite and six other satellites were successfully launched by the PSLV-C56 of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on July 30.
At 6:31 a.m., the PSLV-C56, carrying the DS-SAR satellite and six other passengers, launched from Sriharikota's Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
"PSLV-C56 has successfully put seven satellites, including the main satellite DS-SAR and six co-passengers, in the proper orbit. After the mission's successful launch, ISRO Chairman S. Somnath said, "This is a PSLV mission for New Space India Limited (NSIL). I want to congratulate the customers sponsored by the Government of Singapore for having this mission onboard PSLV and their continued faith in our launch vehicle for deploying their spacecraft.
A collaboration between ST Engineering and DSTA, which represents the Singaporean government, led to the creation of the DS-SAR satellite.
It will be utilised to assist the satellite imagery needs of various entities within the Singaporean government once it is installed and operational. For their commercial clients, ST Engineering will use it to provide multi-modal, more responsive images and geospatial services.
A Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payload created by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is carried by DS-SAR. As a result, the DS-SAR can offer coverage in all weather conditions day and night, and it can image at a resolution of 1 m when using full polarimetry.
The co-passengers on the missions are the 23 kg technology demonstration microsatellite VELOX-AM, the experimental satellite ARCADE, the 3U nanosatellite SCOOB-II, and the advanced 3U nanosatellite NuLIoN by NuSpace, which enables seamless Internet of Things connectivity in both urban and rural areas and distant places,
Orbiting in low earth orbit will be the 3U nanosatellite Galassia-2 and the international collaboration-developed satellite ORB-12 STRIDER.
After the Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched successfully on July 14, the PSLV-C56 mission marks ISRO's first launch since. According to Mr. Somnath, ISRO will launch a second PSLV mission by the end of August or the beginning of September.
