Shubman Gill scores the most points in IPL playoffs.best-ipl2023-gill
Behind Chris Gayle's 146* for Rangpur Riders in 2017 and Tamim Iqbal's 141* for Comilla Victorians in 2019, both against Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League final, it was also the third-highest score in a T20 playoff game.
Gujarat Titans' score of 233 for 3 against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad was the highest by any team in an IPL playoff game. The previous record was 226 for 6 by Kings XI Punjab in a qualifier matchup with Chennai Super Kings in 2014. Additionally, it was the greatest sum for Titans in the ipl.
Gill scored 94 runs from the 36 balls he faced in the middle overs (7 to 16). Only two batters—Gayle during his 175* against Pune Warriors India in 2013 and Sehwag against Deccan Chargers in 2011—have scored more runs in middle overs of an IPL innings.
In this IPL, Gill has three centuries. With four goals each, Gill had more in a single IPL season than only Virat Kohli (2016) and Jos Buttler (2022).
He and Michael Klinger (T20 Blast, 2015) are the only players to score three centuries in four innings in men's T20s, and all of his hundreds this season have occurred in his last four innings.
Gill has scored 851 runs in this IPL, which is the third-highest season total for a hitter. Buttler scored 863 runs in 2016 compared to Kohli's 973 runs.
The Mumbai Indians lost 23 runs as a result of Tim David's dropped catch of Gill when he had reached 30 off 19 balls, including the single off that ball. According to the Luck Index, had the catch been made, the other batters would have scored 76 off of 40.
12 IPL hundreds were scored against Mumbai Indians, including Gill's 129, which was the highest any team ever gave up. Six of those twelve century have occurred since the 2022 season began.
The Mumbai Indians have let up six totals of 200 or more this season, which is the most of any side in a single IPL season. Both Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore have given up five goals this season, which is the second-most of any team. Only Southern Punjab (eight in the 2020 National T20 Cup) have ever let up six or more totals of 200 or more in a single T20 event before.
